MAW Minneapolis, MN 2/16/18

Promotion: Midwest All-Star Wrestling
Time/Date: 8 p.m. Friday February 16, 2018
City, State: Minneapolis, MN
Venue: Parkway Theater

I believe this was the first time that pro wrestling was seen at this 80 year old theater in south Minneapolis. It has not been used as a regular theater in many years. I've been here to watch some Doctor Who episodes and most recently to watch a screening of 1980's Flash Gordon, which is when I found out about this event. It's been cold in the Parkway each time I've been there and this night was no different. I guess the heater has not worked in a while. This event was the last one in the Parkway until the new owners do a remodel. this was my first time at an MAW event as most of their events have been on Sundays.

The first two matches were pre-show 'young lions' matches. They involved 4 of the recent graduates from The Academy of Professional Wrestling.
Rylie Jackson VS Kyle Pro ended in a 10 minute time limit draw.

Brandon Gore pinned JDX.

Tomahawk Kid pinned Officer Rob Justice.

The Maulers (Joseph "Stonehenge" Wayne & Damien Graves) defeated El Tigre & El Angel Dorado.

"Downtown" Petey Brown defeated "Mr Entertainment" Ty Cooper. After the match they were both attacked by JDX and Rylie Jackson. Brown and Cooper got their revenge after intermission.

Aiden Wake pinned Leonard Literacy after some outside help from Sneaky Pete.

Orin Veidt pinned Air Wolf. Veidt had some help from the Maulers. This was the first of 3 events I would shoot at on this weekend. There was one wrestler who was also at all three of those events and that was Air Wolf.

In the main event Garrison Creed defeated Duke Cornell

The Final Chapter

El Bano pinned Leonard Literacy in the opening match. This being a Halloween weekend event it was nice to see on of the wrestlers dress in costume. Literacy came out dressed as Faarooq/Ron Simmions.

Even better then Literacy's costume was the next guys out. Tom Butterman came out as Freddie Krueger adn Scott Story as Hockey Mask Guy.

The best and scariest costume of the night was Pete Huge as Terry Fox.

Back to the matches as The Tomahawk Kid defeated Rylie Jackson.

Chris Jordan won by DQ over Lore when Lore's partner Joseph "Stonehenge" Wayne interfered in the match. This set up a tag match for later.

Mitch Paradise pinned Chadwick Wentworth III.

In the main event MIW champion JD Bandit took on Scott Story for the last time.

After a few ref bumps Scott Story defeated Bandit to win the MIW championship.

Venue: parking lot of Grumpy's Bar

It was a very hot and windy day in Roseville. The temperature was in the 90's so the venue decided to put up a tent for shade and that meant no cage match as advertised.

The ring announcer for the night was Joe Macko. He must have been very warm in that tux.

Macko looks a lot like a guy who used to referee at back in the '90's.

Kody Rice defeated Officer Rob Justice.

Chris Jordan pinned Stonehenge Joseph Wayne.

Mitch Paradise beat "Heavy Metal" Lore. This match was suppose to be a the cage match. It was so hot out referee Rob Page wore shorts!

This was suppose to be a hair VS hair match with Ty Cooper VS someone else who was not able to be at the event on this night. Ty Cooper still put his hair on the line for this match. The only hair that Cooper had was his handle bar mustache. True to his word, Cooper cut off his mustache after the match. Here are some before and after photos.

MIW champion JD Bandit defeated Mitch Paradise to retain the title.

The main event match was for control of MIW. "Playboy" Pete Huge managed Scott Story against El Bano who was managed by MIW owner Terry Fox.
