F1rst Wrestling Minneapolis, MN 3/20/2009

F1rst Wrestling returned to First Ave in downtown Minneapolis, MN with a card named Minneapolis Massacre. I missed the last F1rst Wrestling card that was held at the West St. Paul Armory at the end of January as I was on vacation.
Heavy On Wrestling brought in the Iron Sheik for an autograph/photo session before the first bell and at intermission. The Iron Sheik got on the house mic at intermission and told the fans what he thought of Hulk Hogan.
In the opening match The Junk Squad defeated 101 Proof in a tag team contest. As you can see in the photo here Pete Huge of the Junk Squad got some help from his valet Allison Wonderland. Venom was pinned by Huge after Wonderland kicked him in the balls. Huge was suppose to wrestler two roller derby girls after one of them hit him in the balls last time at First Ave but the roller derby girls could not appear at F1rst Wrestling by orders of their league officials. Something about roller derby being above pro wrestling.
In the next match Udo defeated The Prophet, Pierre Abernathy and Gary J in a 4 man match. This was my first time seeing Abernathy and J. I believe they came up from the St. Louis area.
Brody Hoofer defeated Thoruf Marius in a falls count anywhere match. There were no introductions for this match as the wrestlers started fighting back stage. These two big men took this match all over First Ave, the even went into the woman's bathroom. Hoofer finished off Marius with two chair shots to the head and a body slam on the stage.
In the battle of former friends Arik Cannon defeat Cody O'Neill. After his lose O'Neill challenged Cannon to more more match. That match will be O'Niell's last match ever. O'Neill has some nagging injuries so he wants to hang up his boots for good.
Midwest Ground & Air kept their unbeaten in Minnesota streak alive by once again defeating Northstar Express. Towards the end of the match Nate Bash climbed off of Darin Corbin's shoulders and on the the the stairways. From there Bash jumped down on to Corbin and Ryan Cruz.
The main event on this night was an Extreme rules match between Rob James and Horace the Psychopath. This was a very brutal match with thumb tacks, barb wire baseball bats, barb wire chairs and a flaming table. Well, it would have had the flaming table if they hadn't used a fire proof table. After trying to lite the table on fire unsuccessfully Horace put a barb wire wrapped chair on the table and power bombed James through it to get the 3 count. This was a very bloody and brutal match.

8 Stupid Questions with "Playboy" Pete Huge

Name: "Playboy" Pete Huge
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 203 lbs
From: Your Girlfriends Bedroom
Years Pro: 10
1) Who trained you and what’s the most important thing you learned in their camp? Eddie Sharkey and Terry Fox. I learned respect for your peers and the business. And arm drags. (Huge Vs Brody Hoofer with Terry Fox as referee)
2)Where is a good place to get a burger around here? Matt's Bar in South Minneapolis. 35th and Cedar. Home of the Jucy Lucy! Don't fall for that 5/8 Club shit! They suck! (Junk Squad Vs the O'Neills at NPW 1/28/2006)
3)Do you have any weird superstitions/rituals that you do before matches?I'm very superstitious. I can't tell you about about most of them, because that's bad luck. However, my lucky draws, that's a different story. I have worn them for EVERY pro wrestling match I've ever had...except one. And what happened? I got seriously hurt my arm on a frog splash (funny, I know). I was out for like four months. Everybody in the locker room loves them. That's 10 years worth of matches... (Huge with lucky Calvin Kleins and Rob Page 2007)
4)Who would win in a wrestling match Obama or McCain? How about a 3 way dance of Obama, McCain and yourself? I would kick the crap outta both of them and then take their wives and do what would only come naturally. Politicians are dumb. (Huge Vs Shawn Daivari at MIW 10/12/2003)
5)Is there really a G Spot? Yes, there is a g-spot. I have found it. Numerous, numerous times...(Huge Vs Kaos at CCWA 8/13/2003)
6)Real fast with out thinking about it, how many times have you wrestled Big Brody/Daddy Hoofer? Maybe half of my matches lol. Maybe like 50? Dunno. I'm pretty sure I've won most of them.(Huge Vs Brody Hoofer at F1rst Wrestling 2008)
7)What made you want to be a wrestler? Ric Flair. He was cool. He had money and girls. He would take an ass whiping and still somehow win. He was always cocky and entertaining. As a little kid, that's what I wanted to be when I grew up. That and I thought it would be a good way to meet chicks. (Huge Vs Lacey at Lucha show 4/11/2004)
8)Uh... so... do you like... stuff? Stuff and things. (Huge Vs Black Stallion at PWA 5/22/2004)

F1rst Wrestling Minneapolis, MN 8/8/2008

F1rst Wrestling presented 'This ain't Beijing' this last Friday night at First Ave night club. This card featured the return of TNA knockout O.D.B. and a tag team match between the Junk Squad and Arik Cannon/Cody O'Neill.
In the opening match Midwest Ground & Air defeated the Northstar Express when Benjamin Sailer pinned Ryan Cruz.
Shane Hollister defeated Kamikazie Klecker in the second match of the card.
Thoruf Marius pinned Brody Hoofer. After the match Hoofer offered to shake Marius's hand. Marius shook Hoofers hand but then attacked him.
In a mixed tag team match O.D.B. & Horace the Psycopath defeated Arya Daivari & Ann Brookstone. O.D.B. pinned Daivari after she used his carpet for her own magic carpet ride. I believe that a few years ago O.D.B. beat Arya's brother Shawn for the MPW cruiser weight title.
"The King of Throw Down"Venom defeated "6% Body Fat" Rob James. These two have wrestled against each other many times.
ROH tag team champion Tyler Black defeated Joey Envy.
The Junk Squad beat Arik Cannon & Cody O'Neill when Pete Huge pinned Cannon. After the match O'Neill attacked Cannon and called out his old partner Aaron Corbin.
No date set yet for the next F1rst Wrestling card.

AWA RUSH Mankato, MN 10/12/2007

AWA RUSH held their one year anniversary card this last Friday but unfortunatly it was their last card as well. RUSH owner/promoter Mike "Gator Magraw" Kinney retired from wrestling this summer and he now decided to retire from wrestling all together and close his promotion. Although during some of the times he got on the mic he did make it sound like RUSH might return next year.
Arya Daivari pinned Casanova after a magic carpet ride.
Cory O'Neill pinned Gage Octane after a standing spanish fly.
Arik Cannon pinned Brody Hoofer after the glimmering warlock.
Devin Carter pinned Aaron Corbin with help from the ropes to retain the AWA RUSH YouTube title.
Professionaly Dangerous (Jaysin Strife & Benjamin Sailer) beat the Junk Squad (Peter Huge & Kleck Michaels) to win the AWA RUSH tag team titles.
AWA light heavy weight champion "Krazy K" Kirby Mack retained his title against Matty Star as they were both counted out of the ring. Every promotion that is a member of the AWA must have an AWA title defense in their promotion at least once a year. Because of that RUSH brought in Mack to defend his title against the winner of the Grapple Cup tournament that was held last month. Promoter Gator Magarw announced that this was the first time an AWA title was defended in Minnesota since 1991 when the old AWA shut down.
The Black Stallion retained his AWA RUSH heavyweight championship against Shimdog.

AWA RUSH Mankato, MN 7/27/2007

Gator's Last Stand was the name of the card held by AWA Pro Wrestling RUSH this last Friday at the Eagles Club in Mankato, MN. This was a new venue for RUSH and the place was packed for Cowboy Gator Magraws last match as he was retiring due to injuries.
The Junk Squad beat the Northstar Express to retain the AWA RUSH tag team titles.
Tag team partners Benjamin Sailer and Jasyin Strife wrestled against each other in an exhibition match to prepare them selves for a rematch with the Junk Squad. There was no winner in this match as the Junk Squad attacked Sailer and Strife.
The feud between student and teacher continued as Shimdog took on Jake Taylor in a strap match. There was no winner in this match as both men touched the 4th turnbuckle pad at the same time.
Arya Daivari beat Devin Carter to become the new AWA RUSH YouTube champion.
Arik Cannon beat Aaron Corbin. After the match Cannon poured some drain clog remover stuff on Corbin's face.
Joey Envy retained the AWA RUSH championship against Horace the psychopath when the ref reversed the original decision and Horace was disqualified.
In his last match Gator Magraw beat his long time nemesis and former partner Casanova.
It was a little over 4 years ago when I first photographed Magraw in action at a Neo Pro card in Cottage Grove, MN. He was a little thinner then.

AWA RUSH Faribault, MN6/15/2007

From Spikes bar in Faribault, MN AWA Pro WrestlingRUSH held their first card in a place that NPW used to run not to long ago. This was the second night of RUSH's first double shot weekend. I was unable to make it to the first night which was at their home venue of the Bandana Brewery in Mankato, MN. I hate smoky bars.
In the opening match 'The Professional' Benjamin Sailer defeated Matty Star.
In the second match '6% body fat' Rob James was the winner against Zac James by DQ. Ref Tad Taylor DQed Zac when he used a hand weight that Rob brings to the ring to hit Rob. These two wrestlers are not related.
Arik Cannon beat Jasyin Strife.
In a 6 man tag match the team of the New Junk Squad & Jake Taylor beat Shimdog, Venom & Donnie Peppercricket. This was my first time seeing Peppercricket.
The Northstar Express beat the O'Neill Twinz.
The AWA RUSH Youtube champion Devin Carter retained his title when the match against Arya Daivari went to a time limit draw. You can go to Youtube.com to watch this match.
AWA RUSH champion Joey Envy beat Aaron Corbin with his superkick in a no DQ match. In the move of the night the wrestlers took the match over to the pool tables and Envy used a cue stick to put Corbins ball in the corner pocket.

Arya Daivari won a 3 way elimination match against Matty Star and Jaysin Strife.
Benjamin Sailer beat Arik Cannon with a roll up.
The Junk Squad beat Aaron Corbin & Zac James. This Junk Squad tandem tried out their new version of the junk sandwich.
Jake Taylor beat Shimdog with a little help from the ropes.
The Northstar Express beat Twisted Steal-N-Sex Appeal. Before the match Casanova had another one of his challenges as he and his tag team partner Rob James took on Ryan Cruz & Darin Corbin in a 3 legged race around the ring. NSE won that challenge.
Devin Carter retained the AWA RUSH Youtube TV title by beating El Viejo.
Joey Envy became the new AWA RUSH champion in a 3 way elimination Bunkhouse match with former champion Chris Jordan and Brody Hoofer. Gator Magraw was suppose to be in this match but he announced his retirement from wrestling and picked Hoofer as his replacement in this match. Magraw will wrestle 3 more matches before he retires because of shoulder problems.
