NPW Hayward, WI 11/29/2008

Northwoods Pro Wrestling in conjunction with Minnesota Independent Wrestling, held their first card that the L.C.O. casino in Hayward, WI this past Saturday night. There was a pretty good turn out so it looks like NPW will be back at the L.C.O. some time in the near future. My luck at the casino was good as I walked out with $27 more then I came with.
Daryl Hall defeated 'Livewire'Johnny Parks in the opening contest with a roll up pin. Parks had been in retirement untill promoter Terry Fox gave him a call to get booked on this card.
'Playboy' Pete Huge defeated Cpl. Julio Julio. Once again Julio came out to a different name but this time I think it's for good as the fans really liked to cheer 'Julio Julio'. I think that Huge may have used the ropes to get the pin on Julio.
MIW Heavy weight champion Brody Hoofer defended his title against 'the Professional' Benjamin Sailer. There was a lot of back and forth action in this match but Hoofer came out still holding on to his belt in the end.
Zack Mercury pinned Mitch Paradise. It's not often you see a man as big as Mercury do a missile dropkick from the top rope. One of the referees on this card was former AWA referee Gary DeRusha as seen here in this photo.
The regiegning MIW ladies champion, Josie, returned but with a new name. Josie is now know as Sojourner Bolt in TNA and on this night she faced Reggie who wrestles for OVW. Bolt got the win after a DVD.
The main event of the night was a battle royal for the 'king fo the Northwoods' ax. All the male wrestlers from the card were in the battle royal plus 3 more. The final four in the ring were Huge, Hoofer, Mercury and Paradise. The winner of the axe was Paradise when he dumped Mercury over the top with help from Huge and Hoofer.

HOW Superior, WI 11/15/2008

Last Saturday night Heavy On Wrestling presented 'Have a Funkin' Nice Day' at the Mertz Mortorelli Gym on the University Wisconsin Superior campus. This card featured two hard core legends, 3 former WWE wrestlers, a former WWE diva, a former ROH champion, a former WCW womans wrestler and many of the top wrestlers from Minnesota.
In the opening match Nate Bash defeated Austin AriesMikey of the Spirit Squad defeated Dickie Rodz by tap out. This was my first time seeing both of those guys. Rodz looked a lot like Bret Hart with his pink and black tights and long dark hair.
Cherry defeated Ann Brookstone and Daffney in a womans 3 way dance. Heavy D refed this match while drinking beer! Cherry got the three count when she pinned Brookstone.
Arya Daivari defeated Brody Hoofer, Joey Envy and Venom in a tables elimination 4 way match for the #1 contender to the HOW championship. The tables in this match were some of the toughest tables I've ever seen. It took two spears from Hoofer to put 300 pound Venom through the table. With Envy eliminated Daivari tried to win the match with a magic carpet ride with Hoofer on the table but the table didn't break. All it did was injure Daivari's arm. Daivari was able to win as he pushed Hoofer off the ring apron on to a table but that took two tries as well.

The Highlanders defeated the Northstar Express.
The Black Stallion defeated Thoruf Marius when Bad Boy Brian turned on Marius and gave him a low blow.
For the main event HOW brought in Mick Foley and Terry Funk as special guest referees for the first HOW championship match. Before the match started Foley asked that the wrestlers give the refs a reason to get physically involved in the match as he was sure that the fans didn't come to see him and Funk just be referees.
Benjamin Sailer defeated Arik Cannon to win the HOW championship. Cannon gave both Funk and Foley plenty of reason to get physical during the match. The Northstar Express came out to help Cannon but Foley and Funk chased them to the back. While the refs were busy Cannon gave Sailer a ddt on the ramp way and that made Sailer bleed so much he had a crimson mask. After an appearance by Mr Socko Sailer hit a german suplex for the three count.

NLW St. Paul, MN 11/8.2008

Northern Lights Wrestling presented 6 exciting matches at the Eagles club in St. Paul, MN this past Saturday night.
In the opening match 'The Mainstay' Mikey Stanley defeated 'The All American' Nathan Sensation.
Even with the big size difference Cpl. Julio Gonzales defeated Brain Sager. Gonzales won by tap out.
Aaron Corbin & Cory O'Neill defeated Darel Hall & Shimdog.
'The very capable' Zero Kincaid pinned Derrek Devlin.
The NLW tag team champions Glam Slam defeated Red Lightning ( I think that's Red behind Xavier in the photo) & Logan Lasher to retain the belts. I've missed a few months of NLW shows and was surprised to see on my return that Spiderbaby and Ian Xavier are now cheered by the NLW fans.
The Black Stallion defended his NLW heavy weight championship against JB Trask in a dog collar match. There was a lot going on at ring side as Stallions manager Adam Drake held Trask's valet Kymberlie 'hostage'(?). In the end Kymberlie helped her man by handing him some powder to throw into Stallions eyes. Trask got the 3 count and won the NLW heavy weight title.

8 Stupid Questions with "Playboy" Pete Huge

Name: "Playboy" Pete Huge
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 203 lbs
From: Your Girlfriends Bedroom
Years Pro: 10
1) Who trained you and what’s the most important thing you learned in their camp? Eddie Sharkey and Terry Fox. I learned respect for your peers and the business. And arm drags. (Huge Vs Brody Hoofer with Terry Fox as referee)
2)Where is a good place to get a burger around here? Matt's Bar in South Minneapolis. 35th and Cedar. Home of the Jucy Lucy! Don't fall for that 5/8 Club shit! They suck! (Junk Squad Vs the O'Neills at NPW 1/28/2006)
3)Do you have any weird superstitions/rituals that you do before matches?I'm very superstitious. I can't tell you about about most of them, because that's bad luck. However, my lucky draws, that's a different story. I have worn them for EVERY pro wrestling match I've ever had...except one. And what happened? I got seriously hurt my arm on a frog splash (funny, I know). I was out for like four months. Everybody in the locker room loves them. That's 10 years worth of matches... (Huge with lucky Calvin Kleins and Rob Page 2007)
4)Who would win in a wrestling match Obama or McCain? How about a 3 way dance of Obama, McCain and yourself? I would kick the crap outta both of them and then take their wives and do what would only come naturally. Politicians are dumb. (Huge Vs Shawn Daivari at MIW 10/12/2003)
5)Is there really a G Spot? Yes, there is a g-spot. I have found it. Numerous, numerous times...(Huge Vs Kaos at CCWA 8/13/2003)
6)Real fast with out thinking about it, how many times have you wrestled Big Brody/Daddy Hoofer? Maybe half of my matches lol. Maybe like 50? Dunno. I'm pretty sure I've won most of them.(Huge Vs Brody Hoofer at F1rst Wrestling 2008)
7)What made you want to be a wrestler? Ric Flair. He was cool. He had money and girls. He would take an ass whiping and still somehow win. He was always cocky and entertaining. As a little kid, that's what I wanted to be when I grew up. That and I thought it would be a good way to meet chicks. (Huge Vs Lacey at Lucha show 4/11/2004)
8)Uh... so... do you like... stuff? Stuff and things. (Huge Vs Black Stallion at PWA 5/22/2004)
