Flash Back Friday: DCW Minneapolis, MN 8/13/2003

Promotion: Downtown Championship Wrestling
Time/date: 8 p.m. Wednesday August 13, 2003
City, State: Minneapolis, MN
Venue: First Ave night club

For this Flash Back Friday we jump back to a time when First Ave events were on Wednesday nights and mostly free. I'm not sure who won or lost in these matches I didn't take notes or make sure that I photographed the ref raising the winners hand.

El Viejo VS John Johnson. James "Moose" Thomas was the jeans wearing ref for this match. Not sure if Thomas had started wrestling before this or if he was still training. When he started wrestling it was under the name Tommy Gunn.
"The Genuine Article" Chris Jordan defeated Christian Moore. This was Moore's first pro match after training with Terry Fox and Eddie Sharkey. Others that trained that summer with Moore were DOS, Josie, Rob Page and Big Mac. Moore wrote about this match in chapter 9 of his autobiography "Being Moore: my life in professional wrestling". This same photo can be seen in that book. The most interesting thing about this photo is Jordan's gear.
 Mitch Paradise VS Dan Jesser.
DCW womans champion Josie defeated Rain. Terry Fox was the referee.
"Playboy" Pete Huge VS Kaos,AKA Cody O'Neill. Looks like Huge was wearing shorts but still not showing any part of his legs.
Big Daddy Hoofer, AKA Brody Hoofer VS Detroit Slim.
DCW champion Black Stallion defeated  Lenny Lane.

MIW Chanhassen, MN 8/1/2015

Promotion: Minnesota Independent Wrestling
Time/Date: 4pm Saturday August 1, 2015
City, State: Chanhassen, MN
Venue: parking lot of  American Legion Post #580

MIW VS NWPW for the American Legion contract.

In the first match of the afternoon Dr. Darrin Davis pinned PJ Thorn. This match was not part of the MIW VS NWPW contest.
Chris Jordan (NWPW) VS JD Bandit (MIW) ended in a no contest. This was the first match in the best of 5 series for the Chanhassen contract.
James "Moose" Thomas (MIW) defeated The Masked Jungle Fighter (NWPW). The MJF looks a little thinner these days. MIW 1 NWPW 0
Joseph "Stonehenge" Wayne with manager Rob Page (NWPW) defeated El Bano (MIW). MIW 1 NWPW 1
The third match was scheduled to be Pete Huge VS Scott Story but because of how the Chris  Jordan/JD Bandit match ended this match turned into a tag team match. The Junk Squad (Huge & Jordan) (NWPW)defeated Story & Bandit (MIW) to retain the tag team title. MIW 1 NWPW 2
Mitch Paradise pinned MIW champion Black Stallion. MIW 2 MWPW 2
The new MIW champion Mitch Paradise.
Because the series was tied at 2 wins each 10 man elimination tag team match was held to decide the winner. Team MIW won the match to renew their contract with the Chanhassen American Legion for another season. The first MIW event of the season is 9/12/15.

NIW Amery, WI 3/11/2007

Northern Impact Wrestling returned to The Tac, formerly known as the Northstar Event Center.
In the opener of the night Tommy 'Spiderbaby' Saturday & Malikite beat Bobbi Mafi & Sean Slade. It's been a while since I've seen old Spiderbaby in the ring.
In a battle of brothers Venom w/ Rain beat Rob James. The event opened with a Spiders Web interview segment with the brothers. James brought up somethings from their past such as who got the Sega Geniss for xmas. Great stuff.
James Thomas beat Kid Krazy and Trent Jones in a three way dance. Kid Krazy hit his world of pain but Thomas took Krazy and tossed him out of the ring and go the pin on Jones. Smart move on the part of Thomas.
NIW Impact champion The Prophet retained hit title against Bret O'Brian in a hard fought match.
The Junk Squad beat Arik Cannon and the Northstar Express in a wild 6 man tag match.

AWF Hayward, WI 3/10/207

From the LCO Casion in Hayward, WI the American Wrestling Federation presented 5 big matches, I photographed 3 of them before I had to leave.
Big Daddy Hoofer beat Joey Envy. Last time at the LCO Casino Envy was the referee in the first match. Looks like he is moving up the AWF ladder.
Allison Wunderland pinned Rain.
I think JB Trask won a three way dance with James Thomas and The Black Stallion. I'm not sure about that ending though.

NPW West St. Paul, MN 2/17/2007

Northstar Premier Wrestling presented No Limits III featuring a ladder match between NPW cruiserweight champion Joey Envy and Kid Krazy at the West St. Paul National Guard Amory. This card was suppose to aslo feature a battle between NPW and SDW but for some reason that battle fell apart before the 17th.
In the opening contest Arya Daivari beat former NPW cruiserweight champion JB Trask with his magic carpet ride.
Aaron Corbin beat Matt Burns. This was the first time that I have seen Burns since some time in 2003 I think. Corbin won with a yakuza kick to Matt's face. Burns has been spending some time boxing.
James Thomas beat Mitch Paradise.
Zero Tolerance (John Johnson & Black Stallion) beat the O'Neill Twinz to win the NPW tag team titles. Aaron Corbin came out to help ZT and proclaimed that he is out to get the O'Neill Twinz because Cory O'Neill pushed him out of the spotlight.
NPW heavyweight champion Big Daddy Hoofer beat some guy dressed as a former SDW champion. Hoofer then went on to beat his real opponet, Tony DeNucci.
Joey Envy beat Kid Krazy in a ladder match for the NPW cruiserweight title. These two beat the hell out of each other. The end came when Joey hit a copkiller on a pile of chairs then climed the ladder over Krazys almost lifeless body.

NPW Faribault, MN 12/16/2006

Northstar Premier Wrestling had some wrestling matches at Spikes Bar and Grill in Faribault, MN. I think this was their first show in this venue. All I have to say is I hate bar shows because I hate cigarette smoke. But on the plus side the ceiling was high.
The Main Attraction James Thomas beat Thoruf Marius with his feet on the ropes.
NPW Lightheavy weight champion JB Trask defeated Arya Daivari to retain the belt. Talk about your 'vet VS rookie' match this one has JB with over 3,000 matches and Arya with under 10 I believe.
The O'Neill Twinz beat Aaron Corbin & Joey Envy.
Former WCW cruiserweight champion Lenny Lane beat Tony DeNucci. I think he may or may not have cheated to get the win.
The NPW tag team champions, The Black Stallion & John Johnson beat the Big Gunns to retain their titles.

NPW VS NIW world series of wrestling West St. Pual, MN 11/4/2006

From the National Guard Armory in West St. Paul, Mn two fueding promotions faced off in a best of 7 'World Series of Wrestling'. This was the second of such events to be held in MN as the first one was held in April of 2005 when Midwest Pro Wrestling lost to Chikara of PA. That WSoW was in the name of good sportsmanship but his one between Northstar Premeir Wrestling and Norhtern Impact Wrestling was to settle a fued that started earlier this summer when NPW head John Johnson invaded NIW. For this WSoW both promtions picked 5 singles and two tag teams (one being a 4 man tag team) for the seven matches.
Darin Corbin(NIW) beat his brother Aaron Corbin (NPW) to make the score NIW 1 NPW 0.
Tony DeNucci (NPW) beat Kamikazi Klecker (NPW) and Venom (NIW) to even up the score at 1 each. This match started out as Klecker VS Venom but DeNucci didn't like the idea that Klecker was representing NPW so he put himself in the match.
Mitch Paradise (NPW) pinned Nate Bash (NIW) to make put NPW head 2 to 1.
The Junk Squad (NIW) and The Big Guns (NPW) battled to a double DQ as both teams used chairs. The score was still NPW 2 NIW 1.
NPW cruiserweight champion JB Trask retained his title against NIW's Rob James. NPW 3 NIW 1.
NIW Universal champion Kid Krazy beat Joey Envy (NPW) to make the score NPW 3 NIW 2.
The final match was a 8 man survivior match with team NIW (The Prophet, Ryan Cruz, Horace the Psycopath and Arik Cannon) VS team NPW (Black Stallion, Cody O'Neill, Magnus Maximus and John Johnson). Team NIW won when Arik Cannon pinned John Johnson after two refs were knocked out and powder and fire was used and Nora 'Molly Holly' Greenwald made the 3 count. The WSoW ended in a 3/3 tie.
After making the 3 count in the final match Nora gave the C.E.O. a stone cold stunner.
