HOW Duluth, MN 2.18.18

Promotion: Heavy On Wrestling
Time/Date: 5 p.m. Sunday February 18, 2018
City, State: Duluth, MN
Venue: Clyde Iron Works

No Love Lost

It was a snowy day in Minnesota. The drive up to Duluth from the Minneapolis area didn't see much snow but it did start close to event time. That snow would cause a change to one of the matches on this card.

In the opening match Wild Cat defeated Ryan Cruz. Wild Cat debuted his new mask in this match.

In a 3 way match King Leonidas defeated heavy Metal Lore and Chainsaw King. Fan fact, Leonidas is a town in northern MN.

Ken Anderson...Anderson defeated Mitch Paradise in a #1 contender match. This #1 contender match was pretty much like a "money in the bank" match as the winner could challenge for the HOW title when ever they wanted.

This next match was scheduled to be a 4 women match for the new HOW woman's championship title. Because of the snow Madison Rayne, Angelina Love and Laurel Van Ness were unable to make it to Duluth for this event. Leva Bates was able to make so she faced Kara Noia for the HOW woman's title.

For the first 2 matches Kara Noia was ring side doing video camera for HOW production. Noia is a student at The Academy of Professional Wrestling and she has only work in less then 10 matches. I last saw her as a referee at Showtime Championship Wrestling in St. Paul, MN. Noia had less then 10 minutes to prepare for this championship match against Bates. Good thing thing

Leva Bates pinned Kara Noia to win the first ever HOW Woman's championship title. Bates is known as the cosplay wrestler. For this match she cosplayed as Mikasa Ackerman from Attack On Titan, a popular anima series from Japan. The morning after the event I showed my wife photos of Bates as Mikasa as she has watched Attack On Titan. The first thing she said was "where are the leg straps?". Bates took those leg straps off mid way through the match.

Billy Gunn defeated Shawn Daivari. Usually I post a photo of the winner the match doing a move or hold but in this match I didn't have that. During this match I had to go to the bathroom. When I returned Gunn had just won the match with his fameasser move.

While he was in the area Billy Gunn did a seminar at The Academy of Processional Wrestling. He also did a pod cast with Ken Anderson and Michael Hunter for Lower The Mic.Click here to listen to that pod cast.

The main event was a 4 corners match for the HOW championship. HOW champion Darin Corbin took on Arik Canon, Kody Rice and Air Wolf.

Air Wolf pinned Kody Rice to win the HOW championship title.

Ken Anderson...Anderson and Shawn Daivari came out to congratulate Air Wolf as they are his trainers at The Academy of Professional Wrestling.Anderson told Air Wolf that he was going after his title, right now. After a belt to the head and a mic check Anderson got the pin on Air Wolf.

Ken Anderson...Anderson is the new HOW undisputed champion.

The next HOW event is a big one. It takes place on July 29, 2018 in Tower, MN at the Fortune Bay Casino. Already signed to appear at this event are Scott Hall, Eric Bischoff and Ricky Steamboat.

AWF Rockford, MN 8/4/2012

The American Wrestling Federation had a fund raiser event for the Rockford fire department at the Rockford community center this past Saturday night. To help out the RFD the AWF brought out the big gun, Bill Gunn. Rockford is the home town of AWF referee Rob Page. He was super excited to get back to ‘The Rock’.
IMG_3773Black Stallion defeated Arik Cannon in the opining match. Stallion didn’t do it all on his own. As Stallion distracted referee Rob Page John Johnson came to the ring and hit Cannon with his finishing move.
IMG_3858Ryan Cruz beat Arya Daivari by DQ. Ref Rob Page actually saw Daivari hit Cruz with a low blow and he called for the bell.
IMG_4004Tony DeNucci pinned Rob James after a frog splash.
IMG_4065AWF Elite champion Craven Knyte pinned Sammy Savard to retain the belt.
IMG_4325Billy Gunn pinned John Johnson after the fame asser. Black Stallion came to the ring to help Johnson. Johnny Parks then came out to even the odds and hand cuff Stallion to the ropes.

ECHO Pro Sartell, MN 5/30/2009

For the second night in a row ECHO Pro wrestling held an event at the Bernick arena in Sartell, MN. The roster for both nights were mostly the same with just a few changes.
In the opening contest "6% Bodyfat" Rob James challenged any fat slob to a match. Venom came out for that challenge and defeated James.
TNA wrestler AJ Styles was scheduled to be in the main event against Shannon Moore who was unable to attend. Unfortuantly Styles was unable to wrestle as well because of an injury that took place at a TNA tv taping earlier in the week. Styles came out to tell the crowd that he could not wrestle. Brody Hoofer came out to complain about not getting the chance to beat Styles in the main event on this night. Styles told Hoofer and the fans that he brought a replacement from TNA for his match.
Kamekazi Klecker defeated Josh Calisto when the match was stopped due to Calisto not being able to continue after he hit his head on the concreat floor from the move in the photo to the left. 911 was called and an ambalance was set for Calisto. Later in the night Calisto returned from the hospital and appeared to be ok.
M-Dogg Matt Cross & O.D.B. defeated "Playboy" Pete Huge & Allison Wonderland and Joey Envy & Ann Brookstone in a 3 tag team match.
Arik Cannon defeated Horace the Psychopath in a Sartell street fight that never made it into the streets of Sartell. Cannon got the pin on Horace after a senton from the ring apron on to a table. Both men were a bloody mess after this match.
The Northstar Express defeated Faith in Nothing and Midwest Ground & Air in a 3 tag team match. ECHO Pro champion Darin Corbin pinned Christian Faith. Not sure if this means that Midwest Ground & Airs Minnesota win streak is over or not seeing as how they didn't get pinned in this match.
Billy Gunn (He came out to his old WWE DX music) defeated Big Brody Hoofer in the main event. The appearance of Gunn was a real surprise to the crowd and they got really loud when he came out. With the DX music playing the fans didn't really know who was coming out as it could have been one of 2 men from TNA. But I think that the word most have gotten out to one fan in the front row who was wearing a Billy & Chuck t-shirt. Really, who owns one of those shirts yet alone wears one to a wrestling show?
