Rudos Promociones Richfield, MN 11/30/2012

It’s been a while since I’ve been ring side at a lucha libra event. Over five years actually. Most of the lucha shows in the Minneapolis area take place on Sundays which I can’t attend. So I was happy to hear that there would be one on a Friday night in my home town. Rudos Promociones held a fund raiser event for Partnership Academy. The event was held at the school which is located in the Church of the Assumption.

IMG_4046Frankenstein defeated  Loba. In case you’ve always wondered who would win between these two monsters you now know the answer. Frankenstein won after a top rope splash.

IMG_4119Chintin pinned Ciriaca. Even though the referee was a rudo the good guy still got the win.

IMG_4167Guerrero Rebelde defeated  Sur Star. Rebelde was the only luchadore that didn’t wear a mask.

IMG_4355Alas De Fuego and Mexican Boy beat Renegado Estrada and Apostle Trece. This was a match of rookies VS veterans and it was the rookies who got the win.

SDW South St. Paul, MN 11/24/2012

Steel Domain Wrestling was at the South St. Paul high school a few weeks ago on a Saturday night. This was a benefit show for the high schools dance team.
IMG_3475SDW promoter Ed Hellier and announcer Mick Karch started off the event at ring side for the internet taping. They were interrupted by Zero Kincade who complained that he was not on the card. Kincade didn’t get a match but he did get the claw from Baron Von Raschke.
IMG_3520Wildcat defeated Craven Knyte in the opening match. Midway through the match a cable under the ring came loose and that made the rings loose. This made it so the wrestlers were unable to use the ropes. The ring was fixed after the match.
IMG_3601Miss Natural defeated Ann Brookstone.
IMG_3724Rob James defeated Ryan Cruz. When James came to the ring he got on the mic and put down the South St. Paul dance team who were in attendance. The team then came down closer to the ring to cheer on Cruz but it was not enough to help him win the match.
IMG_3838Renny D defeated his former tag team partner Benjamin Sailer. During the match one of Sailer’s kicks hit Renny’s nose causing a deviated septum. Even with the the almost broken nose Renny was still able to get the pin but with his feet on the ropes. Referee Rob Page was out of position to see Renny cheat to win.
IMG_3985In the main event Mitch Paradise pinned Arya Daiavri after a choke slam. This match can be seen on the SDW web site which is linked above.

Prime Time Wrestling presented “Black & Blue Friday” a week ago at the Knights of Columbus in Bloomington, MN.
IMG_2884Mikey Wipeout defeated Apostle 13 in the opening match. These two have been wrestling each other the last few shows with neither one getting a win. After the match Apostle 13 attacked Wipeout and Alas De Fuego came out to make the save. This was De Fuego’s first appearance in PTW.
IMG_3010Renny D Defeated John Johnson.
IMG_3110Mitch Paradise & Billy Blaze ( Body Beautiful) defeated Zero Kincade & Magic Man.
IMG_3260PTW champion Black Stallion retained the title when he defeated Arya Daivari. Daivari tried using the title belt and a low blow to defeat Stallion. Referee Rob Page gave the belt to Daivari after a 3 count but referee Willie Mac came out to tell Page about the cheating that Daivari did so Page restarted the match. Stallion then rolled up Daivari for the win.
IMG_3437Ryan Cruz & Big D defeated Crisco & Lenny Lane in the main event.

PWB St. Paul, MN 11/14/2012

Last Saturday night Pro Wrestling Battleground returned to Wilebsky’s Blues Saloon in St.Paul, MN.
IMG_2295“The King of Throwdown” Venom defeated The Mad Russian in the opening contest.
IMG_2365The PWB Breakout champion Luther Wilson III defeated former Olympic wrestler Chas Betts. Wilson had a lot of help from his manager Ryan Sax. Referee Rob Page totally missed the low blow that Wilson hit on Betts. This was Betts second pro match since he competed in the 2012 London Olympics.
IMG_2445Renny D pinned Udo. After the match Renny D put his shirt on and sat on a chair in the middle of the ring. D then spoke about how there are some wrestlers who don’t give the fans their moneys worth such as the Junk Squad. As he made his way back to the ‘locker room’ the video screens on the side of Wilebsky’s stage showed the Junk Squad attacking Renny D. Good use of the video screens.
IMG_2585Horace the Psychopath defeated “Playboy” Pete Huge in a ‘last man standing’ match. Huge’s Junk Squad partner Chris Jordan came out and attacked Horace but The Prophet chased Jordan back to the ‘locker room’. Horace and Huge hit each other with many weapons but the end came when a metal garbage can was introduced into the ring. Horace power bombed Huge onto the can and it folded around Huge’s torso. Huge was unable to get off the mat because of the can.
IMG_2663The Prophet defeated Chris Jordan.
IMG_2710Darin Corbin pinned Craven Knyte to become the new PWB champion. After ref Rob Page was knocked down Corbin hit Knyte with a ginger snap onto a metal chair. Horace came out after the match to check on Knyte. Corbin then challenged Horace to a match at the next PWB event, which will be the 6th anniversary or Pro Wrestling Battleground.

PTW Bloomington, MN 10/26/2012

Prime Time Wrestling was back at the Bloomington, MN Knights of Columbus this past Friday night. One of the high lights of the October event was the kids costume contest.
IMG_0348John Johnson defeated Benjamin Sailer in the opening match. This was Sailers debut match for PTW. Last month Johnson knocked some popcorn out of an old fans hand. This time that fan kept yelling ‘you owe me popcorn!”. All I could think of during the whole match was the paperboy in the movie “Better off Dead”.
IMG_0479Mikey Wipeout and Apostle 13 once again wrestled without a clear winner. This one ended in a double count out.
IMG_0671Next up was a tag team match between Mitch Paradise & Zero Kincade and Billy Blaze & Magic Man with Tiger Lilly. This match came about when Kincade came out with an anti bullying sign. He got in the ring and talked about being picked on for being a nerd. Out came Blaze to say that he liked picking on nerds. Then Magic Man and Lilly came out followed by Paradise. In the end Magic turned on Blaze, Paradise turned on Kincade and Lilly turned on Magic.
IMG_0746Ryan Cruz defeated Lenny Lane. After the match Lane and EPRW’s Crisco attacked Cruz. Crisco’s EPRW’s co-host Big D came out to help Cruz but he ended up getting whipped with Crisco’s belt.
IMG_0950PTW champion Black Stallion pinned Renny D to retain the title. Stallion is now the undisputed champion.

IMG_9711In the first match of the BCW Breakout championship tournament Shinigami defeated Rainmaker. Shinigami’s mask reminds me of the Great Sasuke.
IMG_9751Luther Wilson the 3rd defeated Patriot 3. Not only was this a first round match for the BCW Breakout championship but it was also a match to decide who could use the # 3 in their name. For now on Patriot 3 shall be known as “Real American”.
IMG_9796Darin Corbin pinned Venom. Corbin is trying to get voted PWI’s “most hated wrestlers of the year”. Just his tights alone should get him that award.
IMG_9851Chris Jordan defeated The Prophet with his feet on the ropes.
IMG_9923Luther Wilson the 3rd defeated Shinigami to become the first BCW Breakout champion.
IMG_0021Ryan Cruz pinned “6% body fat” Rob James.

IMG_9016BCW champion Darin Corbin retained the title against Horace the Psychopath in the opening match of the night. Corbin got the win after hitting a ‘ginger-snap’ on Horace. After the match Corbin challenged Jerry Lynn to a match. Corbin has been challenging veteran MN wrestles and he thinks that Lynn is the last one he needs to beat.
IMG_9131Mikey Wipeout defeated Zero Kincade. At the last BCW event Kincade came to the ring to a metal Doctor Who theme song. This time I notice that he is wearing TARDIS blue tights.
IMG_9164Ian Xavier defeated Patriot III. Canada really does rule! And for those readers wondering the answer to the question I asked in the last BCW post back in August…Xavier is the wrestler with the Doctor Who tattoo.
IMG_9231Venom defeated Craven Knyte. In a tweet Knyte blamed the loss on Darin Corbin.
IMG_9363Ref Rob Page defeated The Prophet when Arik Cannon made the 3 count. Page got a little caught up in the action and he did a leg sweep on Prophet and made a cover. After Cannon made the 3 count and raised Page’s hand the Rocky theme played. Page then gave the Stone Cold Stunner to both Prophet and Cannon.
IMG_9454Rob James pinned Udo to become the new BCW Twin Cities champion. James added this title to his tag team title he holds with Horace.
IMG_9634In the last match of the night Ryan Cruz pinned Arya Daivari. These two have wrestled against each other every month this year.

Former wrestler Shimdog was the referee for this match and he was announced by the name of Shane McVicker. Shimdog was unable to continue wrestling because of injuries. It’s nice to see him still in the biz as a referee.

IMG_8710Mystick pinned Miss Frankie with her feet on the ropes. This was Miss Frankies MIW debut.
IMG_8783Announcer Timm Larson called former Olympian Chas Betts into the ring. Betts talked about his love of pro wrestling. I’ve heard that he may be in a pro wrestling ring very soon. Betts is also a MN high school state wrestling champion.
IMG_8789Mitch Paradise, Chris Jordan & El Bano defeated Dorrian, James Jeffries & Aaron Corbin. Paradise got the 3 count on Corbin.

Shawn Daivari- light-rail bouncer 9/27/2012

IMG_9833Former WWE/TNA wrestler Shawn Daivari was on a light-rail in Minneapolis, MN when another male passenger became unruly. The passenger threatened to kill others on the light rail and there was no rail police officer in sight. Daivari had enough and he slapped on a rear naked choke, a move some what like the one he put on Ryan Cruz back in January. With the move Daivari was able to choke the man unconscious and toss him off the light-rail at the next stop. Daivari got a lot of media coverage from this event.
