NPW Hayward, WI 2/5/2010

Northwoods Pro Wrestling, in association with Minnesota Independent Wrestling returned to the L.C.O. casino in Hayward, WI. I almost didn't make it to the event as my co pilot got us lost and my car got stuck while trying to turn around. Luckily a very nice man stopped to help us out. There were a few wrestlers/valets on this card that I had never seen before.
El Bano defeated "The Law" Mark Barker and Gunner Clash in a three way. Mitch Paradise came out and tossed all three from the ring and cut a promo in the ring to set up his match with Daryl Hall.

Shimdog w/ Kiandra defeated Cpl. Julio Julio.

"Genuine Article" Chris Jordan defeated AJ Smooth w/ Ferreh Lee by DQ when "Playboy" Pete Huge helped Smooth. As both Huge & Smooth were beating on Jordan, Horace the psychopath came out to even the sides. Jordan then asked for a tag team match with Horace against Huge & Smooth.

Ann Brookstone vs Mystique ended in a no contest when Ferreh Lee, Kiandra and Allison Wonderland got involved in the match.

Daryl Hall pinned Mitch Paradise.

Allison Wonderland won the Queen of the Northwoods Diva Royal when she pushed Ann Brookstone over the top rope. Others eliminated before Brookstone were Mystique, Stacey Shadows, Ferreh Lee and Kiandra.

Chris Jordan & Horace the psychopath defeated Pete Huge & AJ Smooth w/ Ferreh Lee.

MIW Mounds View, MN 8/22/2009

A couple of Saturdays ago I left the wrestling art show because there was an Minnesota Independent Wrestling event at Robert's Sports bar in Mounds View, MN. I had missed the last few MIW cards so it was nice to make it to this one. A few of the referee's on this card will soon be making their pro wrestling debuts.
In the opening contest "Playboy" Pete Huge w/Allison Wonderland defeated Super Caboose w/K-Train. Huge was scheduled to take on K-Train but K-Train was injured in a match the week before so Super Caboose took his place.
Tommy "Spiderbaby" Saturday pinned El Bano.

Daryl Hall defeated Mark Barker.

Cpl. Julio Julio defeated "The Rising Star" Shimdog.

The MIW heavy weight champion Brody Hoofer defeated The Black Stallion to retain the belt. It was nice to see Hoofer used an old school move like the airplane spin.

In the main event Chris Jordan & Horace the Psychopath defeated Rob Ivy & Mitch Paradise when Jordan pinned Paradise.

NPW Hayward, WI 4/25/2009

This past Saturday night Northwoods Pro Wrestling (aka MIW) returned to the L.C.O. Casino in Hayward, Wisconsin. I got to the L.C.O. as the first match had already started and was surprised when I got to the ring to find that the ring was about a foot higher then normal. This was a big change from the night before at Roberts Sports Bar as that ring was about 2 feet off the ground. It took me a while to adjust to this new ring height. Ok, I never did adjust to that ring height. I hope I never see another ring that high again.

Benjamin Sailer defeated "Playboy" Pete Huge w/Allison Wonderland.
Cooter Bocephus pinned "The Law" Mark Barker.
K-Train defeated Cpl. Julio Julio.
In an upset, Daryl Hall pinned Thoruf Marius. Not only did Hall give up size and weight to Marius but he also had to deal with the Masked Jungle Fight who was in the corner of Marius. Luckily for Hall Cpl. Julio came out and fought with MJF to the back.
"The Popular" Nate Bash became the new NPW cruiser weight champion when he defeated Shimdog. After the match Bash invited kids from the crowd to come in the ring to celebrate his win.
Mitch Paradise and The Black Stallion wrestled to become the #1 contender to the MIW heavy weight title. The match ended in a time limit draw so the title match with Brody Hoofer became a 3 way match.
The main event for the night was a 3 way dance tables match for the MIW heavy weight title between Mitch Paradise, The Black Stallion and champ Brody Hoofer. Brody Hoofer retained the MIW heavy weight belt when he put The Black Stallion through a table.

MIW Mounds View, MN 4/24/2009

Minnesota Independent Wrestling returned to Roberts Sports Bar in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis/St. Paul this past Friday night. This card was titled "Anger Management 101".

In the first match Daryl Hall defeated Carter Dunn. This was my first time seeing Dunn in action.
Shimdog defeated "The Popular" Nate Bash in a match where the winner would get a title shoot later in the card. Dysfunction was scheduled to get a title shoot on this card but he was unable to make it to Roberts Sports Bar.
"The Law" Mark Barker defeated Cooter Bocephus.
Cpl Julio Julio defeated Arya Daivar when Daivari tapped out.
Ugly defeated El Bano. Ugly has one of the most unique souvenirs to sell to fans, a mini ugly stick.
"Playboy" Pete Huge pinned Benjamin Sailer after Allison Wonderland hit Sailer's crotch.
MIW heavy weight champion Brody Hoofer defeated Shimdog to retain the title.
Mitch Paradise pinned K-Train in the main event. The referee changed the decision when the noticed Paradise was hiding a chain in his armpit. That made K-Train the winner by DQ. I thought the referee couldn't call what he didn't see. Even though K-Train got the win he still challenged Paradise to a lumber jack match when MIW returns to Robert's on June 19th.

MIW Moundsview, MN 3/13/2009

This last Friday night Minnesota Independent Wrestling debuted at a new venue as they took their ring to Roberts bar in Moundsview, MN for "Feel the Pain '09". I liked this new venue but the bar made some what of an odd request. Roberts management asked that music be played during the matches. This seemed to through off some of the wrestlers as the music played was really not to their liking. I've been to other promotions that have done commentating over the wrestling and that was pretty weird. But I've also been to sporting events that play music during game play but they usually played up beat music to go with the action. The music played during the matches on this card was more like dance music. The Matches started at a little after 8:30 and ended at just after midnight.

Like last week in Chanhassen this card saw the return of a few old MIW wrestlers. The difference this week is that the returning wrestlers had not been in the ring for over 6 years. Besides the two returning wrestlers there were also three wrestlers making their MIW debut.
The opening contest was between two MIW rookies. In this match Cpl. Julio Julio defeated "The Law" Mark Barker.
"Playboy" Pete Huge with Allison Wonderland defeated the debuting Ugly. This was my first time seeing Ugly and to tell you the truth, he really didn't look that ugly.
Daryl Hall defeated Blazing Benjamin with a roll up. This was Benjamin's first time in MIW.

Danny Duggan with Allison Wonderland defeated Mickey McCoy with some help from Huge. As Duggan and Huge beat on McCoy after the match Brody Hoofer came out to make the save. Following the MIW formula this set up a tag team match for later in the night.
Cpl Julio Julio defeated Mikey Stanley and Trevor Gibson in a three way dance. Gibson was the third wrestler to make their MIW debut on this night.
K-Train defeated Rick Mathews with a stunner. This match was K-Trains return to the squared circle after more then 6 years. He looked pretty good in the ring for having that much time off and he also had a lot of fans at ring side who still had their K-Train t-shirts.
MIW heavy weight champion Mitch Paradise defeated "The new face of country music" Jeremy Biggs with the Masked Producer to retain the belt.
Dysfunction pinned AJ Shanchez after a super kick. Dysfunction was on the mic earlier in the night talking about how he was just in a king of the death match tournament but on this night he would not be doing any hard core for the stupid fans in Minnesota.

Brody Hoofer & Mickey McCoy defeated "Playboy" Pete Huge & Danny Duggan with Allison Wonderland. McCoy put Huge through a table out side the ring but the match ended in the ring when Hoofer pinned Duggan.
The main event for the night was the Roberts Rumble which was a Royal Rumble rules match. All the wrestlers from the earlier matches were in the rumble as well as two who were only in the rumble. The first of the two being Johnny Gadaski who was formerly known as Johnny Goldengate. The second fresh wrestler in the Rumble was also the second returning wrestler, Dr. Darin Davis, the wrestling proctologist. Davis came to the Roberts mostly to see old friends but he ended up being put into the Roberts Rumble. Check out his blog for for his view on the night.
K-Train won the Roberts Rumble when he clothes lined Pete Huge over the top rope.

NPW Hayward, WI 11/29/2008

Northwoods Pro Wrestling in conjunction with Minnesota Independent Wrestling, held their first card that the L.C.O. casino in Hayward, WI this past Saturday night. There was a pretty good turn out so it looks like NPW will be back at the L.C.O. some time in the near future. My luck at the casino was good as I walked out with $27 more then I came with.

Daryl Hall defeated 'Livewire'Johnny Parks in the opening contest with a roll up pin. Parks had been in retirement untill promoter Terry Fox gave him a call to get booked on this card.
'Playboy' Pete Huge defeated Cpl. Julio Julio. Once again Julio came out to a different name but this time I think it's for good as the fans really liked to cheer 'Julio Julio'. I think that Huge may have used the ropes to get the pin on Julio.
MIW Heavy weight champion Brody Hoofer defended his title against 'the Professional' Benjamin Sailer. There was a lot of back and forth action in this match but Hoofer came out still holding on to his belt in the end.
Zack Mercury pinned Mitch Paradise. It's not often you see a man as big as Mercury do a missile dropkick from the top rope. One of the referees on this card was former AWA referee Gary DeRusha as seen here in this photo.
The regiegning MIW ladies champion, Josie, returned but with a new name. Josie is now know as Sojourner Bolt in TNA and on this night she faced Reggie who wrestles for OVW. Bolt got the win after a DVD.
The main event of the night was a battle royal for the 'king fo the Northwoods' ax. All the male wrestlers from the card were in the battle royal plus 3 more. The final four in the ring were Huge, Hoofer, Mercury and Paradise. The winner of the axe was Paradise when he dumped Mercury over the top with help from Huge and Hoofer.

NLW St. Paul, MN 10/20/2007

Northern Lights Wrestling held their first card at their new home venue, the Eagles Club in St. Paul, MN on Saturday 10/20/07.
The card opened with Steve Stardom VS Daryl Hall. Stardom got the pin after a piledriver.

Next up was Tommy "Spiderbaby" Saturday VS Zero Kincade. Saturday got the win.

Red Lightning beat Ian Xavier by DQ when "Spiderbaby" interferred in the match. Kincade came out to help out Red Lightning and that set up a tag team title match for the main event.
NLW heavyweight champion Buddah beat Johnny Goldengate to retain the title. Goldengate made a young girl sitting in the front row cry.

In a two out of 3 falls match for the NLW tag team title Red Lightning & Zero Kincade beat Ian Xavier & Tommy "Spiderbaby" Saturday to win the belts.
