PWA South Saint Paul, MN 6/23/2012

This past Saturday afternoon Pro Wrestling America returned to the South Saint Paul VFW for the annual Kaposia days show.
John Johnson defeated Black Stallion to become the #1 contender for the PWA championship. Johnson will get that title shot in September at Drkula’s bowling ally as part of Inver Grove Heights days.
“Mexico’s Greatest Import” El Bano pinned The Brauler with a little help from the referee. After the match PWA commissioner Eddie Sharkey declared that El Bano would team up with the referee to take on The Brauler.
“The Illustrious” Rob Ivy did not like what he saw in the last match so he challenged El Bano to a match. El Bano was once again victorious.
Tommy “Spiderbaby” Saturday & Mystik defeated Magicman & Ann Brookstone in an intergender match.
Mitch Paradise & Billy Blaze defeated Buck “Rock N Roll” Zumhofe & Arya Daivari. Paradise hit Daivari over the head with Zumhofe’s boom box.
PWA champion Udo retained his title against some clown. The match ended when Mitch Paradise and Billy Blaze came to the ring and attacked both masked wrestlers. Buck Zumhofe came out to to help the masked wrestlers. PWA commissioner Eddie Sharkey made a tag team match for the Drkula show. Paradise & Blaze will take on the clown & Zumhofe.

HOW Duluth, MN 3/26/2011

 Blogger has changed the formatting of of the blogs so I've been having a hard time getting this to work like I want it to. If I can't get it to work this may be my last post.With that said, here are the results of the Heavy On Wrestling show from last Saturday at the DECC in Duluth, MN.


 "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan defeated "The Anarchist" Arik Cannon. U.S.A....U.S.A...Hoooooooe!



 Heavy On Wrestling started a HOW Hall of Fame. The first inductees were Joann Sabick (HOW promoter David Sabicks late grandmother), Mae Young, Joyce Grable, Bill & Scott Irwin, Buck Zumhofe and The Honky Tonk Man.

 Heather Zumhofe defeated Ann Brookstone and Mystik in a triple threat match with Lita as special guest referee. Joyce Grable managed Brookstone in this match.

 "Wild" Bill Irwin came to the ring to be inducted into the HOW Hall of Fame. He was inturupted by The Black Stallion. The two wrestled for  a while but Stallion left the ring as Irwin got the better of him.

Heavy D & Dirty Dick Sawyer defeated the Barking Spiders (Ox & Clutch) in a hard core match. Before the match Heavy D was arrested by Officer Mark Barker because he was intoxicated. After a few minutes of the Barking Spiders beating the crap out of Sawyer the Spiders grabbed two of Heavy D's younger brothers out of the crowd and beat up on them. Heavy D returned to the ring with Barker in a shopping cart.  Heavy D got the win after he hit Ox with his own brothers prosthetic leg.

 The Honky Tonk Man defeated "Rock N Roll" Buck Zunhofe. Before the match Zumhofe talked about how mad he was that HTM stole his act. HTM won with a roll up after a shot to Zumhofe's nuts.

 The main event for the night was three way for the HOW heavy weight championship. Champion Benjamin Sailer faced off against Nate Bash and Lance Hoyt. Before the match started Sunny came out to say that she was going to manage the champion. Sailer go the win after he suplexed Hoyt over Bash and then pinned Bash.

Rock N Roll VS Honky Tonk! This Saturday in Duluth, MN

This Saturday night March 26th, 2011 Buck "Rock N Roll" Zumhofe with take on The Honky Tonk Man at the DECC in Duluth, MN as part of the World of Wheels. Heavy On Wrestling is the promotion that will present this match between two pro wrestling veterans. In a recent interview Zumhofe let it be known that he was upset when he first saw The Honky Tonk Man in the WWF because he thought the WWF copied his gimmick. Sure there are other big time wrestlers at this event and I could tell you who they are but this match alone should be enough for you to buy a ticket for this show.

"Rock N Roll" Buck Zumhofe posted a video on his YouTube channel to comment on my photo of him that was published in the March 2011 issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated. For the record, I did not write the caption for the photos of Zumhofe and Greg Gagne. I only took the photos.
The caption to my photos was "Two reasons why no one is clamoring for an AWA reunion". Well if you are clamoring for an AWA reunion then you are in luck. Kenny "The Sodbuster" Jay his having a benefit for the histiocytosis association on Saturday April 2, 2011. Advertised to appear at this event are Larry Hennig, Baron Von Raschke, Greg Gagne, Jim Brunzell, Red Bastien, Dr X, Nick Bockwinkle and Buck Zumhofe. This event will take place at the American Legion in Savage, MN from 6pm till midnight and the cost is $15. Click here for more info on the event.

PWA South St. Paul, MN 6/26/2010

For the second Saturday in a row Pro Wrestling America had one of their annual shows. This week it was at Kaposia Days in South St. Paul, MN in the VFW parking lot. Once again it was a beautiful day for outdoor wrestling.
In the opening match Contrast defeated Udo in the battle of the masked men.

Horace the Psychopath defeated The Brauler in the second match.

Tommy "Spiderbaby" Saturday defeated rookie Denis "The Menace" Michael.

Mystik pinned Heather Zumhofe.

Billy Blaze pinned Buck "Rock N Roll" Zumhofe with some help from Lenny Lane. After the match Zumhofe challenged Lane to a weasel suit match at an up coming show. Zumhofe first had his weasel suit match against Bobby "The Brain/Weasel" Heenan probably over 20 years ago.

JB Trask & Rob Ivy w/ Kimberly & April Allure defeated Shimdog & Lenny Lane when Ivy pinned Shimdog.

PWA champion Mitch Paradise w/ The Professor retained his belt when he beat Arya Daivari. This was a switch from last weeks card as Paradise was the bad guy and Daivari was the good guy. I think this was the first time I've ever seen Daivari getting cheers from the fans.

HOW Proctor, MN 8/21.2009

This past Friday night Heavy On Wrestling provided the 'pro wrestling' entertainment at the South St. Louis County Fair in Proctor, MN. Either the county fair people didn't know who HOW booked for this card or they were afraid of the WWE. All the advertisments for this show only said 'pro wrestling'. There was no mention that former WWE superstars Honky Tonk Man, Al Snow, Rikishi and Scotty Too Hotty would be there. And besides those guys there was also former AWA legend Buck "Rock N Roll" Zumhofe and former Mtv star Arik Cannon also on the card.

In the opening contest Buck "Rock N Roll" Zumhofe defeated Sammy Savard.

Mystik defeated Ann Brookstone.

Arik Cannon pinned Horace the Psychopath after a glimmering warlock.

Honky Tonk Man defeated Brody Hoofer with a a little shake rattle and roll.

Midwest Ground & Air (Nate Bash & Benjamin Sailer) kept there Minnesota win streak alive by beating the Northstar Express ( Darin Corbin & Ryan Cruz) again.

Al Snow pinned The Black Stallion. Snow had Head with him for this match.

Scotty Too Hotty & Kishi defeated Arya Daivari & Mitch Paradise. This photo was taken moments before Daivari recieved the 'stink face' from Kishi. Kishi and Scotty did not dance after the match but they did pose for lots of photos with the fans.

A new place to train for pro wrestling- The GWA

(Editors Note 10/11/2011- This training camp never really got started)
Former AWA tag team and tv champion Greg Gagne has returned to the pro wrestling biz with a new training camp call the Gagne Wrestling Academy (or is it Gagne Wrestling Association? It's listed both ways on the web site). It looks like Gagne wants to pass on the great tradition of pro wrestling that his father passed on to him.

Helping Gagne will be former AWA light heavyweight champion Buck Zumhofe and his Rock N Wrestling promotion. Zumhofe promotes over 150 cards a year and he has been training wrestlers for many years.

One of the wrestlers that Zumhofe has trained is Sammy Savard. At the GWA Savard will be training the basics of pro wrestling to all the begginers.

Helping with the training will be the first two graduates of the GWA, "Lover Kid" Erik Lockhart and "All Star" Paul Brewski.

The GWA wants women to train with them as well. Zumhofe's daughter Heather and Mystik Sexton are the women who will train any females who sign up to train with the GWA.

PWA South St. Paul, MN 6/28/2008

From the Kaposia Days festival in South St. Paul, Mn at VFW #295 Pro Wrestling America presented a card featuring women, a midget and former AWA legends. This was a free out door show. What is 'kaposia' you ask. Click here to find out.

Dakota Darsow defeated former WCW cruiser weight champion Lenny Lane with a roll up.

Ian Xavier defeated Sky Steel with a little help from some brass knuckles. This was Steel's first match.

Korina Kay pinned Lisa Louise.

Jay North defeated Tommy "Spiderbaby" Saturday.
AWA legends Kenny "The Sodbuster" Jay & Buck "Rock N Roll" Zumhofe defeated Shimdog & Jonny Goldengate.

The Asylum defeated Mitch Paradise to become the new PWA champion. There was a lot of action around ring side as the VFW manager was in Paradise's corner and The Asylum had two managers helping him to his victory.

It had been 5 years since I was last at the annual PWA Kaposia Days card so I thought it would be fun to dig in to my archives and post some photos from that card from 6/28/2003. It's interesting to see what has happened in 5 years. For a full review of the card go to doc dx's field reports.

DOS defeated Big Daddy Hoofer in the opening match. DOS is now retired from pro wrestling. Big Daddy Hoofer now goes by Brody Hoofer and he cut off his bleach blond hair.. Most recently he was in a match with the Honky Tonk Man in Superior, WI.

Big Mack won a handicap match against Drej & Chris Jordan. Both Big Mack and Drej have left pro wrestling but Jordan made his return a few weeks ago to the ring after a year away. Jordan made a return to Kaposia days but not to wrestle. He came for the tacos.

Lacey & Josie defeated Rain & Candy. What is the deal with all the women wrestlers having only one name? Candy, the one in the red pants, left the biz not too long after this match. Josie moved away from MN and she is now wrestling with OVW. For a few months Rain could be seen on TNA as Ms Peyton Banks. Lacey's where abouts are unknown at this time.

Horace the Psycopath defeated Tommy Gunn. Horace has retired and returned to pro wrestling many times. Most recently returned unannounced at F1rst Wrestling. Who knows when he will next go back to his home in St. Peter, MN. Gunn changed his name to James Thomas and moved to Kentucky to train at Derby City Wrestling. Ref Rob Page was a Eminem look a like 5 years ago. This was just his 2nd or 3rd card he had ever reffed on.

Bad Boy Brian wrestled against Mini Savard. I can't remember who won and was hoping that Barb would have had the winner listed in her field report but she didn't have it. I stopped taking photos of this match as the guy in the neon green trunks junk kept escaping out. This match went on way to long and it started to rain. Bad Boy Brian is still wrestling but I have not seen Mini Savard since this card. I hope if he did continue wrestling that he got trunks that would hold his junk.

Austin Aries defeated Shawn Daivari after a 450 splash in the rain. Both of these men went on to bigger area not too long after this.
PWA champion Mitch Paradise defeated Mason Quinn to retain the belt. I'm not positive if Paradise has held that belt for the last 5 years with out loosing it but once again he was in the main event at Kaposia Days and the only man to appear on both of these cards. Quinn moved from MN back to his home state of Wisconsin where he wrestles for promotions such as ICW.
