8 Stupid Questions with Lacey

Name: Lacey
Years Pro: 8 1/2
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 130 lbs
Home Town: Minneapolis, MN
1. Was it hard to train for pro wrestling as a female? Extremely! I think it's hard to go through for anyone, but there are definitely extra challenges going through as a minority in this male-dominated environment. Women aren't exactly looked upon with the utmost respect in the wrestling industry, and there are definitely some women around that absolutely don't help our cause in gaining that respect. It's unfortunate! But, on the bright side, its really helped me to grow into a strong and independent person. ( Lacey Vs Pete Huge 4/11/2004 Promociones Renegado Lucha )
2. The battle lines have been drawn, you must pick a side. Are you with team Aniston or team Jolie?Eh, I'm neutral. Don't really know much or care about either, but Jolie does seem to do a ton of charity work and is a good will ambassador and all that so I suppose I'll pick her. ( Lacey Vs Josie 12/6/2003 FLWA)
3. Have you ever been injured in the ring? I've had a few concussions, been busted open a few times, black eyes, stuff like that. Also jacked up my knee pretty badly a few years ago by dislocating the knee cap and slightly tearing some tendons and ligaments. Luckily, surgery was not needed. ( Lacey with Jimmy Jacobs Vs Roderick Strong 6/24/2006 ROH)
4. What’s the weirdest thing you ever received from a fan? Customized booty shorts. WEIRD. (Lacey Vs Rain 4/11/2004 Promociones Renegado Lucha)
5. Who is the greatest female wrestler from Minnesota, Nora Greenwald or Madusa? I love them both!!! I really looked up to and admired both of them when I was younger. They both definitely played a role in my desire to start training. (Lacey Vs Allison Danger 4/27/2007)
6. So ah…what do you think about the war in Iraq? I think its pointless, horrible, awful, terrible, disgusting, a gigantic waste of money and resources, a gigantic waste of lives, an incomprehensible injustice to all of humanity...etc. etc. etc (Lacey at F1rst Wrestling 4/22/2007)
7. You were an announcer on Mtv’s very short lived Wrestling Society X. If you could get cast on another Mtv show what would it be?Absolutely NONE of them. Well, unless my role on the show was to fuck everybody up Grand Theft Auto style. I can't even comprehend the shows on Mtv (well, most tv) these days. It's sick these people exist to populate these reality shows and its sick there's such a market for it! ( Lacey with Arik Cannon 1/21/2004 Downtown Championship Wrestling)
8. So are you still wrestling or what? For now...I've got more important things to focus on. Also, really, no creepy wrestling fans deserve to see me in the ring! (The Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew 4/27/2007 ROH)

Happy Birthday Rain

I've been inactive the last month as there has not been much going on in this area and my camera was out of commission for a week or two. So with very few post lately I decided to add a few photos here of someone who's birthday it is today, Rain.

The first photo is from 12/06/03 in St. Paul, MN VS Josie on an MIW card. The middle photo is from 5/22/04 in New Prague, MN against Lacey at a PWA event. And the on on the right is from ROH on 4/27/07 in St. Paul, MN as the MN Homewrecking Crew took on Dangerous Angels.

ROH St. Paul, MN 4/27/2007

Ring of Honor returned to St. Paul, MN at the National Guard Armory. It has been 8 months since ROH ran at this building and it might be even longer till they return. The crowd was about 500 but not enough for ROH to make the long trip.
In a dark match the team of Bobby Dempsy, Alex Payne and Ernie Osiris beat the team of Ash, Billy Roc and Dingo(announced as Dingo Warrior but we all know there was only one Dingo Warrior.)
In a Shimmer tag team match the MN Home Wrecking Crew (Lacey & Rain) beat Dangerous Angels (Sara Del Rey & Alison Danger). The MN HWC got more cheers from their hometown crowd then they wanted.
A Do or Die match between Micheal Elgin and Rhett Titus was interrupted by the returning Jimmy Rave. Rave made Titus tap out to an ankle lock. Rave then beat Elgin with the same hold.
In a special challenge match Shingo beat BJ Whitmer.
The ROH tag team champions retained their titles in a ultimate endurance match. Other tag teams in the match were Mitch Franklin & Pelle, Gran Akuma & Hallowicked and Jigsaw & Mike Quackenbush.
Brent Albright & Adam Pearce defeat Colt Cabana & Homicide. This was a 'anything goes' match so after a few minutes in the ring it went out into the crowd and I headed for the back.
Rocky Romero won a 4 corner survival match that also included Delirious, Jack Evans and Eric Stevens.
FIP heavyweight champion Roderick Strong beat Christopher Daniels w/Alison Danger by count out.
ROH World champion Takeshi Morishima beat Austin Aries to retain the title.

F1rst Wrestling Minneapolis, MN 4/22/2007

Pro Wrestling returned to First Ave night club in Minneapolis, MN this last Sunday night as F1rst Wrestling debuted in the building.
The card started out with a 4 corner match between The Prophet, Cody O'Neill, Nate Bash and Rob James. This match had some great cruiser weight action. In the end both O'Neill and James had pinned Bash and Prophet to win the match.
The second match of the night was Rain Vs Lacey. These two have wrestled against each other many times in the past and they have also teamed together to form the Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew. On this night Lacey got the win with a hand full of Rains tights.
101 Proof (Bret O'Brian & Venom) beat the I Guys(Marek Brave & Shane Hollister). This was the MN debut for the I Guys.
In his 3rd to last indy wrestling match before heading to the WWE Colt Cabana pinned Aaron Corbin after a frog splash. Lot's of comedy in this match.
What started out as a singles match turned in to a tag team title match for the 3XW tag team titles. Ryan Cruz started against Chris Jordan but Jordans Junk Squad partner Pete Huge got involved which brought out Cruz's Northstar Express partner Darin Corbin. NSE made the challenge for their 3XW belts and the Junk Squad accepted. Cruz got the pin on Huge after Jordan hit Huge with a top rope elbow drop. After the match Huge and Jordan got into an argument and seem to have parted ways.
Brody Hoofer beat Joey Envy. It's nice to see Hoofer drop the 'Big Daddy' name.
In the main event Arik Cannon beat Tyler Black. This was billed as 'MTV Wrestling Society X stars

NIW Amery, WI 7/1/2006

The first night of the Northern Impact Wrestling Impact Invitational 16 man tournament took place at the Northstar Event Center in Amery, WI. There would be 8 first round matches and one womans match. NIW picked 8 of the best young wrestlers from Minnesota and 8 of the top indy wrestlers from outside of MN.
The first match of the tournament was between Darin Corbin and 'Sweet N Sour' Larry Sweeney. At first Sweeney got on the mic and told the crowd that his Tex-Arkana tv title was not on the line but Corbin said he would put his scrolling message belt on the line and Sweeney agreed to make it a belt for belt match. Corbin walked away from the ring with both belts and advances in the tourny.
The second match of the tournament was between Kid Krazy and Egotistical Fantastico. In what some called the match of the night Kid Krazy got the win after giving Ego his world of pain.
Lacey beat Rain with a little help from the ring rope.
Bact to the tourny, Cody O'Niell took on Jigsaw. O'Neill is one of the top cruiser weights in MN but he wasn't able to beat on of the top wrestelrs from the Chikara wrestle factory, Jigsaw.
Al B.C. put the NIW Undisputed championship on the line in his first match of the tournament against Jimmy Jacobs. These two first wrestled each other back in October 2005 when Al made a challenge to Jimmy for him to take a shot at his title. Al won that match with the help of his belt. The outcome was different this time as Jimmy put Al down for the pin and took the title.
Ring announcer Joey Eastman with the Tex-Arkana Television title he won earlier in the night.
Arik Cannon wrestled Ash in a frist round match. It was a battle of the mohawks but it turned out that Cannon had the best mohawk on this night and he made his way to the second round of the tourny.
The Punisher Rob James took on Delirious in a first round match. Delirious went after James's ass which he was using as his biggest weapon in this match. Delirious won.
Ryan Cruz wrestled Austin Ariers in the second to last match of the night. Cruz took it to the TNA wrestler but fell short in the end as Aries advanced in the tourney.
In the main event and final first round match the NIW Impact champion The Prophet wrestled B.J. Whitmer. In a big upset The Prophet beat the much larger Whitmer after a top rope message.

Two years ago today 4/11/2004 Lucha Action!

On Easter Sunday 2004 a new promotion in the Minneapolis area debuted @ the West St. Paul Armory. The closest this promotion had to a name was Promociones Renegado which is named after the owner Renegado Estrada. At this time there were plenty of wrestling promotions in the twin cities area but this one was catering to a different crowd, the latinos of the area. I guess the Lucha cards in Mexico cost more as the tickets for this $25! That's a lot for an indy wrestlign show but they did bring in some big names from south of the boarder as the big 6 man tag main event featured Tinieblas jr, Piloto Suicida & Huracan Ramirez VS Poison, Acero Dorado & Frankistein. Yes, Frankistein. But the card was not filled with lucha wrestlers only as some of the top local talent was on featurd as well. Sadly this promotion lasted less then a year.
In the opener Shawn Daivari lost to Werner from Chile.
Arik Cannon wrestled Kaos in what would be their last time in the ring together for about a year.
In mixed tag action Rain & Playboy Pete Huge beat Lacey & Big Daddy Hoofer.
All the wrestlers were brought to the ring for something but I don't know what because I don't speak spanish.
Yep, that's Frankistein (that's how it's spelled on the flyier). This 6 man lucha match was just insane. The crowd was going wild and I had no idea what the rules were or what was going on. This was as close as I could be to being at a lucha card in Mexico with out being in Mexico.
After the card the fans crowded around Tinieblas jr for photos and autographs.
