A Huge Farewell

The MIW locker room with current and past wrestlers.

The night began with the announcement that MIW owner Terry Fox is now cancer free. The Junk Squad (Chris Jordan & Pete Huge) came to the ring to talk about Huge's last match later in the night. Brody Hoofer, Dr. Darin Davis, Robbie Thunder, Nate Bash, Benjamin Sailer, Johnny Parks and Lacey came to the ring to talk about Huge.

MIW champion JD Bandit defeated James Dawson to retain the title. Bandit had a Playboy bunny painted on his face as tribute to Pete Huge.

Craven Knyte pinned Scott Story.

El Bano defeated Mitch Paradise.

Because Mitch Paradise lost the match American Legion manager Kenny Larsen got to whip Paradise with a belt. Paradise tried to get out of the whipping  but Brody Hoofer came out to lend a hand to Larsen.

The Junk Squad (Chris Jordon & "Playboy" Pete Huge) defeated MIW tag team champions DTF ( Aiden Wake & Stonehenge) to win the titles.

Pete Huge thanks the fans after his last match. Huge wrestled for 17 years and was one of the most entertaining wrestlers in MN.

Rock Solid Ross pinned the Red Pirate.

Aiden Wake & Joseph Wayne defeated MIW tag team  champions Scott Story & JD Bandit. Story spent most of the match sitting at ring side. When he entered the ring it was to hit his tag team partner with the title belts and roll Wake on top of Bandit for the pin. Bandit and Story will face off in a steel cage at the next MIW event in Chanhassen.

New MIW tag team champions Aiden Wake & Joseph Wayne.

"Playboy" Pete Huge pinned Officer Rob Justice.

Chris Jordan pinned Ariya Daivari.

Mitch Paradise defeated Dr. Darrin Davis by tap out.

MIW champion James Dawson pinned El Bano. Dawson had a little help from Mitch Paradise who power bombed El Bano by accident.

MIW VS NWPW for the American Legion contract.

In the first match of the afternoon Dr. Darrin Davis pinned PJ Thorn. This match was not part of the MIW VS NWPW contest.

 Chris Jordan (NWPW) VS JD Bandit (MIW) ended in a no contest. This was the first match in the best of 5 series for the Chanhassen contract.

 James "Moose" Thomas (MIW) defeated The Masked Jungle Fighter (NWPW). The MJF looks a little thinner these days. MIW 1 NWPW 0

Joseph "Stonehenge" Wayne with manager Rob Page (NWPW) defeated El Bano (MIW). MIW 1 NWPW 1

The third match was scheduled to be Pete Huge VS Scott Story but because of how the Chris  Jordan/JD Bandit match ended this match turned into a tag team match. The Junk Squad (Huge & Jordan) (NWPW)defeated Story & Bandit (MIW) to retain the tag team title. MIW 1 NWPW 2

Mitch Paradise pinned MIW champion Black Stallion. MIW 2 MWPW 2

Because the series was tied at 2 wins each 10 man elimination tag team match was held to decide the winner. Team MIW won the match to renew their contract with the Chanhassen American Legion for another season. The first MIW event of the season is 9/12/15.

Season Finale

El Bano defeated Ryan Cruz.

 James Dawson pinned Dr. Darin Davis after a low blow.

 MIW tag team champions The Junk Squad (Chris Jordan & Pete Huge) with manager Rob Page defeated Scott Story & JD Bandit to retain the titles.

 Rock Solid Ross pinned Aaron Corbin. After the match Corbin argued with referee Sierra Mist. Mist had enough of Corbin and slapped him.

 Black Stallion pinned MIW champion Mitch Paradise.

Black Stallion is the new MIW heavy weight champion. Stallion represents North Woods Pro Wrestling and he wanted to take over the Chanhassen American Legion from MIW. The Junk Squad (Chris Jordan, Pete Huge & Rob Page) joined NWPW after the match. Mitch Paradise challenged Stallion to a match at the next American Legion event on Saturday August 1, 2015. This will be an outdoor event.

Rock Solid Ross defeated AJ Smooth.

 Dr. Darin Davis pinned Chris Jordan with a little help from the referee.

 Pete Huge defeated El Bano.

 Scott Story & JD Bandit defeated Ty Cooper & James Dawson.

Black Stallion & "Stonehenge" Joseph Wayne representing North Woods Pro Wrestling gave a beat down to MIW promoter/referee Terry Fox. NWPW is attempting to take over MIW's spot at the Chanhassen American Legion.

 MIW heavy weight champion Mitch Paradise defeated Ryan Slade by tap out to retain the title.

The next MIW Chanhassen event is Saturday May 16. This will be their season finale. Get there early because these events sell out.

At this event I tried something that I've never done before. I set my camera to shot all the photos in monochrome.
Scott Story defeated James Dawson in the opening match. After the match Pete Huge came out to challenge referee Darin Davis to defend the MIW TV title. Davis was the last MIW TV champion over 14 years ago. Davis was reluctant to wrestle again so Huge put his MIW heavy weight title on the line as well. Davis accepted to the match later in the night.

 MIW rookie Rock Solid Ross made Aaron Corbin tap out. This was Corbin's first time in the ring after a leg injury last summer.

Chris Jordan pinned JD Bandit.

 Even though JD Bandit received a huge goose egg above his right eye he still challenged Jordan to get back in the ring.

 MIW heavy weight and tag team champion "Playboy" Pete Huge defeated MIW TV champion Dr. Darin Davis.

 New MIW TV champion and reigning MIW heavy weight and tag team champion "Playboy" Pete Huge with manager Rob Page.

 El Bano defeated Officer Rob Justice.

Santa Claus helped in Rob Justice's defeat.

 Mitch Paradise pinned Ty Cooper in the main event.

MIW returns to the Chanhassen American Legion on January 3, 2015.

MIW Moundsview, MN 3/13/2009

This last Friday night Minnesota Independent Wrestling debuted at a new venue as they took their ring to Roberts bar in Moundsview, MN for "Feel the Pain '09". I liked this new venue but the bar made some what of an odd request. Roberts management asked that music be played during the matches. This seemed to through off some of the wrestlers as the music played was really not to their liking. I've been to other promotions that have done commentating over the wrestling and that was pretty weird. But I've also been to sporting events that play music during game play but they usually played up beat music to go with the action. The music played during the matches on this card was more like dance music. The Matches started at a little after 8:30 and ended at just after midnight.

Like last week in Chanhassen this card saw the return of a few old MIW wrestlers. The difference this week is that the returning wrestlers had not been in the ring for over 6 years. Besides the two returning wrestlers there were also three wrestlers making their MIW debut.
The opening contest was between two MIW rookies. In this match Cpl. Julio Julio defeated "The Law" Mark Barker.
"Playboy" Pete Huge with Allison Wonderland defeated the debuting Ugly. This was my first time seeing Ugly and to tell you the truth, he really didn't look that ugly.
Daryl Hall defeated Blazing Benjamin with a roll up. This was Benjamin's first time in MIW.

Danny Duggan with Allison Wonderland defeated Mickey McCoy with some help from Huge. As Duggan and Huge beat on McCoy after the match Brody Hoofer came out to make the save. Following the MIW formula this set up a tag team match for later in the night.
Cpl Julio Julio defeated Mikey Stanley and Trevor Gibson in a three way dance. Gibson was the third wrestler to make their MIW debut on this night.
K-Train defeated Rick Mathews with a stunner. This match was K-Trains return to the squared circle after more then 6 years. He looked pretty good in the ring for having that much time off and he also had a lot of fans at ring side who still had their K-Train t-shirts.
MIW heavy weight champion Mitch Paradise defeated "The new face of country music" Jeremy Biggs with the Masked Producer to retain the belt.
Dysfunction pinned AJ Shanchez after a super kick. Dysfunction was on the mic earlier in the night talking about how he was just in a king of the death match tournament but on this night he would not be doing any hard core for the stupid fans in Minnesota.

Brody Hoofer & Mickey McCoy defeated "Playboy" Pete Huge & Danny Duggan with Allison Wonderland. McCoy put Huge through a table out side the ring but the match ended in the ring when Hoofer pinned Duggan.
The main event for the night was the Roberts Rumble which was a Royal Rumble rules match. All the wrestlers from the earlier matches were in the rumble as well as two who were only in the rumble. The first of the two being Johnny Gadaski who was formerly known as Johnny Goldengate. The second fresh wrestler in the Rumble was also the second returning wrestler, Dr. Darin Davis, the wrestling proctologist. Davis came to the Roberts mostly to see old friends but he ended up being put into the Roberts Rumble. Check out his blog for for his view on the night.
K-Train won the Roberts Rumble when he clothes lined Pete Huge over the top rope.
